SWMM Climatology Editor
The SWMM Climatology Editor is used to define climatology objects. It is displayed by either dragging the applicable SWMM Climatology () database item from the Explorer window onto the main window background, or by right-clicking on the item and choosing Open from the popup menu.
The Editor is divided into the following pages:
This page is used to specify the source of the evaporation rates and to define the monthly average evaporation rates where applicable, and to determine whether or not that evaporation can only occur during periods with no precipitation.
The items contained in this page are described in the following table:
Item | Description |
---|---|
Source of evaporation rates |
Specifies the type of data to be used for evaporation. The following choices are available:
|
Daily evaporation |
Enabled when the Source of evaporation rates is set to Constant value. Determines the evaporation value which is to be applied for all months. Default is 0.2 mm per day. |
Month / Average evaporation grid |
The Average evaporation column is enabled when the Source of evaporation rates is set to Monthly averages and is used to specify the average evaporation rate for each month. Default is 1 mm per day. This grid is read-only when Source of evaporation rates is set to Constant value or Calculated. |
Month / Pan coefficient grid |
A set of monthly pan coefficients which are used to convert the pan evaporation data to free water-surface values. Default is 1. Not currently implemented in InfoWorks ICM. |
Evaporate only during dry periods |
A check in the box indicates that evaporation can only occur during periods with no precipitation. Unchecked by default. |
The Windspeed page consists of a grid into which the values for the monthly average wind speeds can be specified. These wind speed averages will be applied to temperatures in order to calculate snow melt during a simulation.
The Adjustments page is used to specify a set of monthly adjustments applied to the temperature, evaporation rate, rainfall, and soil hydraulic conductivity and soil recovery.
The following items are contained in this grid:
Column | Description |
---|---|
Month |
The month that the adjustment applies to. |
Temperature adjustment | A value that is to be added to the temperature that ICM would otherwise use for the applicable month. |
Evaporation adjustment | A value that is to be added to the evaporation rate that ICM would otherwise use for the applicable month. |
Rainfall factor | A multiplier applied to the precipitation value that ICM would otherwise use for the applicable month. |
Soil conductivity factor | A multiplier applied to the soil hydraulic conductivity value that ICM would otherwise use for the applicable month. |
Soil recovery factor |
A multiplier applied to the soil recovery value that ICM would otherwise use for the applicable month. |
